Don’t underestimate the humble wooden spoon, especially when it’s carved by your own fair hands.

Join us for a hands-on spoon carving workshop at Kith Homestead. In this beginner-friendly class, you'll learn the timeless art of carving a wooden spoon from locally sourced wood. With expert tuition, you'll explore the tools and techniques needed to craft your own functional and beautiful kitchen utensil.

No prior experience is necessary, we will provide step-by-step demonstrations and individualised assistance. Whether you're a woodworking enthusiast or simply looking to try something new, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to connect with nature and learn a traditional craft.

All materials and tools will be provided, and each participant will take home their handcrafted spoon at the end of the workshop.

£80 per person

Please bring:

  • Your own lunch and cup for tea-top-ups throughout the day. Feel free to bring any tea you especially like, we’ll have Yorkshires best and a pot of coffee on the go for you.

  • Please bring plenty of layers, the weather is a little unpredictable at the homestead.

  • The ground is uneven in the woodland so please wear something appropriate with a covered toe; walking boots, wellies, sturdy trainers are fine.

Things to know:

Kith Homestead is primarily an outdoor venue set on a hillside between Leeds and Harrogate. We’re an off-grid site which means we don’t have any running water or electricity. We bring fresh drinking water but please bring enough for yourself to start the day.
We have a compost toilet for you to use.
