Family Tracking Afternoon

  • Horn Bank Farm, North Rigton LS17 0DS United Kingdom (map)

£50 per family (children over 11 years old)

We’re so excited to welcome back the amazing Lea Eyre and Rob Brumfitt for an afternoon of tracking.

Lea and Rob will lead you and your family through an afternoon reading the signs left by animals who live in and around Kith. Learning skills to last a lifetime to take on your adventures. During the afternoon you’ll cover, identifying tracks, learning how to make track casts if substrate is good, discovering skulls and a curious fox jigsaw puzzle.

“Tracking allows us to read the stories left behind by the wildlife around us, interpret the landscape and gain insight into animal behaviour. By looking at tracks and signs (such as, droppings, beds, and feeding sign) we can begin to help you identify what animals are present in an area even without seeing them. How amazing is it to look at a set of tracks on a banking and not only know they belong to an otter, but be able to see how it was moving and behaving at that time. There is real joy in finding a pile of feathers and knowing which species of bird they are from and how they ended up there...tracking gives you the ability to see all of this, a continuous journey, and one which builds strong relationships with the wildlife around you.” Lea Eyre
