Storytelling Workshop Evening

  • Horn Bank Farm, North Rigton LS17 0DS United Kingdom (map)

£25 per person

We’re so excited to announce Dougie Mackay is coming to Kith Homestead.

This storytelling workshop offers the chance to learn the foundations of live storytelling with one of the UK’s leading tellers. The session will demonstrate tools for remembering, crafting, and telling stories live, and offer plenty of opportunities to participate. It will also draw upon the wellspring of traditional tales, signposting where to find them and how to utilise them to promote outdoor learning, curiosity, and play. Participants will leave more confidence in discovering, crafting and telling stories live to family and friends.

We’re also hosting a family storytelling day with Dougie on Saturday 24th July - check it out here

Who is Dougie Mackay?

Dougie is a professional storyteller with a background in Community Education, and ten years experience in outdoor facilitation. Influenced by the 8 Shields model of nature connection and regenerative culture, he uses stories to weave threads of connection between audience, landscape, the imagination and the rich themes present in folk tales and myths.

In addition to ‘sold out’ shows at the edinburgh fringe, he has run story camps with teens on Scottish islands and gathered tales from marginalised communities in inner Glasgow. Workshops and performance are bespoke and crafted to suit the needs of participants and respond to local environments and conditions. He believes great storytelling is at the heart of cultural change, and if nothing else, is a lot of fun.
