Wow! Over the last months I’ve had more and more people ask about ways they can get involved with Kith. It’s been a wonderful reminder that the Homestead community is out there even when we don’t see each other.
This work weekend is an opportunity for you to get involved with Kith Homestead quite literally from the grassroots up. An opportunity to make your mark as we build, fix, grow and move things. In a true homestead way, working with the land like the guardians we are.
On the agenda is…
creating 2 new hugelkultur beds near the yurt
tidying the beds in the garden
creating a new woodland shelter for the winter
What you can expect:
the work will be physical, using spades and forks, wheelbarrows and our own bodies
a great opportunity to learn about the garden and simple permaculture principles
time to rest for lunch and regular tea breaks (with biscuits)
a wonderful community of likeminded people
probably cake!
This is for you if:
you have a few hours to spare
are able to offer a pair of helping hands
you want to become part of the Kith community
What to bring:
lunch if you’re staying the whole day, snacks if you’re staying for half a day
your own water
a reusable mug/flask we can top up
gardening gloves
layers; waterproofs, wellies, woollens
your own tools if you have them; spade, fork, secateurs
Because of the nature of the work we’ll be doing, there won’t be activities available for children. Please be cautious when signing up if your little ones need supervision. This gathering isn’t intended to be a free play session for children rather an opportunity to get into working with the land.
Feel free to get in touch if you have questions about suitability for your family, yourself, a spouse.
If you’re keen to join us for the work weekend, please whizz me a message using the form below letting me know what times you’ll be available. Because of our tiny car park, I need to know numbers in advance.
